The Job-Ready Sushi & Omakase Training Program is a 20-hour short-term, hands-on training program. This is an employer-focused training program based on local restaurant hiring needs. The program helps students build basic sushi skills, food safety knowledge, kitchen discipline, and job readiness.
Qualified students may be referred to our partner restaurants for interviews, trial shifts, or job placement opportunities after completing the training.
No advanced sushi or culinary experience is required. This program is designed for serious entry-level candidates who are reliable, willing to learn, and ready to work.

Course Content

The program may include the following training areas:
① Food Safety & Kitchen Hygiene
② Sushi Station Fundamentals
③ Introductory Sushi Skills
④ Restaurant Job Readiness
⑤ Employer-Based Training

Students will learn basic sushi station setup, sushi rice handling, seaweed use, rolling practice, simple sushi roll preparation, portion control, knife safety awareness, cleaning habits, teamwork, and professional kitchen expectations.

Program Tuition

The tuition for the Job-Ready Sushi & Omakase Training Program is $500 per student.

The tuition includes the full training-to-employment package:

• 20 hours of hands-on sushi and culinary training at St. Thomas University
• Training materials and basic supplies
• Food ingredients used during training
• Certificate support after completion
• Student evaluation
• Job referral support for qualified students
• Referral to partner restaurants for interview, trial shift, or job placement opportunities

Final hiring decisions are made by the employers.

“Under ACAI’s program policy, qualified students who complete the training and maintain employment with a partner restaurant for 6 months are eligible for a 50% tuition reimbursement, and those who remain employed for 12 months are eligible for a 100% reimbursement, subject to employment verification.”
